A rare sighting of killer whales was caught on camera in Monterey Bay on Friday.
Drone video was sent to KRON4 from Nancy Black, a marine biologist from Monterey Bay Whale Watch/Gowhales.com.
In the video, you can see killer whales tossing a salmon in the air. The Monterey Bay Whale Watch assures that the whales were playing with it as this type of killer whale only eats mammals.
The whales were also chasing seabirds and teaching the calf to hunt by practicing with the birds.
This video was captured west of Middle Canyon on Friday.
This is a rare sighting, especially for the whales to do this for as long as they did.
