CASTRO VALLEY (KRON) - Alameda County officials are investigating a deadly shooting that happened Thursday in Castro Valley.
KRON4’s Sara Stinson is at the the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office this morning.
She says deputies are still investigating the homicide and have not released a full description of the suspect.
What we do know is that a 24-year-old man was shot and killed around 5:30 p.m. in the 2300 block of John Ct.
This is in an unincorporated area of Alameda County near the junction of Interstate 580 and Highway 238.
Officers found the victim sitting inside a parked car, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is not being released until family members are notified.
"The preliminary information indicates an unknown African American suspect approached the victim on foot, fired multiple shots and fled on foot to a non-descript get-away vehicle," deputies said.
A gray Honda is also a central piece in the investigation.
Neighbors say there was a group of young men on the court when they heard the gunfire.
People who live in the area are asked to check their home surveillance cameras for evidence.
The Sheriff’s Office detained at least two of the men that witnesses say were with the victim for questioning.
