Spring is here, and it’s bringing lots of suffering to the Bay Area people who have allergies.
On Tuesday, KRON4 met with an allergist to find out how long this allergy season is expected to last–and how you can make it through.
“Worst time of year for allergy sufferers,” Dr. Bruce Paterson said.
Paterson specializes in treating allergies and asthma.
He says his patients from the East Bay have it bad. The residents pay for being able to look upon all those beautiful rolling green hills.
“There is so many open grassy areas,” Paterson said.
Paterson says allergy seasons are tied into the weather. For now, this current one we are in is expected to end in June or July, but that could change if it rains more.
More rain will mean a longer, drawn-out allergy season.
The doctor says before you come and visit him or other allergy specialists to be treated, there are a few things you can try.
“Stay indoors, over the counter nose sprays,” Paterson said.
