Woman caught in Monte Rio mudslide, Bohemian HWY closed

Bay Area

A mudslide has been reported in Monte Rio on Tuesday, according to the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Department.

Sergeant Spencer Crum has confirmed that a woman was caught in the mudslide and crews are working to rescue her at this time.

Crum says there is no word as to where the woman was before the mudslide fell.

Officials have reported that the woman is expected to be ok.

The mudslide is blocking both lanes of Bohemian Highway.

The Sheriff’s Department says that if residents are trying to evacuate Highway 116 is the only way out.

Officials say that this is not uncommon during the rainy season.

At this time there is no estimated time of reopening the highway.

This is a developing story, check back for updates.
