SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — The body of a woman was found in Golden Gate Park around 7 p.m. Sunday, and her death is being investigated as “suspicious,” according to the San Francisco Police Department.
The Chief Medical Examiner’s Office told KRON4 that the woman was identified as Kelly Koike, 37, of San Francisco. Koike’s body was found inside a duffel bag, the San Francisco Standard reported.
A dog walker found the body next to Stow Lake, near where the Outside Lands music festival was underway. A perimeter was set up by SFPD to prevent Outside Lands festival-goers from interfering with the investigation.

A coroner’s van arrived at the park just after 10 p.m. while crowds were leaving the festival. Festival worker Andre Johnson said, “When we left the festival, we saw about 40-50 police officers out here. They had the yellow tape out here and I automatically assumed it was something bad.”
The cause of the woman’s death is currently under investigation. The map below shows where Koike’s body was located at 22nd Avenue and Fulton Street.

It is unclear whether Koike attended Outside Lands, a three-day music festival that drew an estimated crowd of 225,000.
Johnson said, “It was pretty shocking. It’s pretty hard to dump somebody where there are thousands of people walking around.”
Investigators spent hours at the scene looking for evidence. An Outside Lands spokesperson released a brief statement to KRON4 on Monday, writing, “The San Francisco Police Department is currently investigating the reported matter and all questions should be directed to their department.”
SFPD Officer Gonee Sepulveda said no arrests have been made.
