VALLEJO (KRON) — A machine shop employee was taken to a trauma center after being crushed by a steel I-beam that fell from its cradle on Mare Island in Vallejo Wednesday morning.
According to Vallejo fire Battalion Chief Pat Dunn, the accident happened just before 11 a.m. at XKT Engineering.
XKT Engineering is an industrial machine shop located in the 300 block of Railroad Avenue.
Dunn said that the bean fell from its cradle and hit the worker in the legs. The employee, whose name is not being released, was taken to a trauma center.
The California Division of Occupational Safety and Health was called about the accident and will be conducting an investigation into it.
