MALIBU (KRON) - A mandatory evacuation is in effect for the entire city of Malibu and all areas south of the 101 freeway in Ventura County to Malibu Canyon due to the quick-spreading Woolsey Fire burning in Ventura County.
Mandatory evacuations are already in effect north of the 101 Fwy from Valley Vista to Reyes Adobe (areas of Agoura Hills, Calabasas and Westlake Village).
Residents are advised to use PCH to evacuate and avoid canyon roads.
A large animal evacuation center has been established at the Zuma Beach parking lot in Malibu, and at Hansen Dam Equestrian Center (11127 Orcas Ave., Lake View Terrace CA 91342).
American Red Cross has notified the City that the nearest evacuation center for residents of Malibu is at Palisades High School, located at 15777 Bowdoin St, Pacific Palisades, CA 90272.
There are power outages in the Big Rock and Carbon Beach areas of Malibu.
Traffic signals are out on PCH from Topanga Canyon to John Tyler.
The Woolsey Fire has jumped the 101 freeway at Liberty Canyon Road and Cheseboro Road.
The 101 freeway is closed in both directions from Las Virgenes to Reyes Adobe Road.
