TULARE COUNTY (KSEE) – Tulare Police identify the man shot and killed by officers on Monday as 27-year-old Jontell Reedom.

Officers responded to the 600 block of North Cherry Street after reports of Reedom attacking a school bus driver around 4:30 P.M.

Police say two officers tried to arrest Reedom but he slipped away.

Officers deployed a taser but it was unsuccessful before a fist fight ensued with the suspect.

After chasing Reedom and struggling to apprehend him, police say shots were fired.

Both officers are on paid administrative leave as the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office investigates this case.

Reedom was a class of 2009 standout football player for Tulare Union High School.

His family is planning a march to the Tulare Police Department on Wednesday.
