SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — A teenager held in jail since the September murder of a 14-year old Sacred Heart prep football player is now free to go.
The San Francisco County District Attorney’s office has issued a statement on the decision to drop charges in connection with the killing of Rashawn Williams outside a Mission District market.
“Given all the evidence, charges have been dropped at this time. The case remains under investigation,?D.A.’s office spokesman Alex Bastian said in a written statement.
The decision comes just weeks after Public Defender Jeff Adachi came forward with surveillance video which he says shows another person stabbing Williams.
“We are relieved that charges were finally dismissed,” Adachi says in a written statement. “It’s been a long ordeal.?
The teenager was killed on September 2nd at 26th and Folsom Street at Rubin’s Market. He was there with his two younger brothers.
So far no other suspects are identified in the case.
