CONCORD (KRON) — Police officers in Concord responded to the 2900 block of La Salle Avenue on reports of a shooting around 5:50 p.m. on Friday. An 8-year-old boy was shot and his family members transported him to the John Muir Medical Center while officers were en route to the incident.
Officers learned that the victim is suffering from a single life-threatening wound to his neck. The boy was then transferred to Children’s Hospital in Oakland is in stable condition as of Saturday morning.
The Concord Police Department’s Major Crime units is investigating the shooting and have identified 32-year-old Concord resident, James Jarrard as the suspect in this incident. He has not yet been found and there is a $1.1 million warrant for his arrest. Officers don’t believe the shooting was gang related.
Jarrard is being described as a white male around 6’1, weighing 170 pounds with a shaved head and green eyes. He has tattoos, including one on his neck. He is on parole for burglary.
