ALBANY (KRON) — Police are looking for the driver involved in a deadly hit-and-run in Albany, police said.
The collision happened Monday morning shortly before 4:30 a.m. on westbound Interstate 580 just west of the Buchanan Street onramp, according to police.
The pedestrian has been identified as 31-year-old San Pablo resident Luis Barba, according to the Alameda County coroner’s bureau.
Police got multiple calls of a body in the roadway. When they arrived, they found a pedestrian that was struck by a car and left in the roadway.
The driver had fled the scene and has not yet reported the incident.
While collecting evidence, police found parts of a car which may have hit Barba.
The CHP is asking for the public’s help in locating a laser blue, 2015 or 2016 Dodge Dart. The Dodge Dart would have collision damage on its front, near the right side.
Anyone with information about the driver or the vehicle is asked to call the Oakland CHP office at (510) 450-3821 or the CHP’s tip line at 1-800-TELL-CHP.
