Firefighters from the East Bay are headed up to Shasta County to join the fight against an aggressive wildfire.

Four firefighters from the Rodeo-Hercules Fire Department will join the Contra Costa County strike team on the battle line.

According to Cal Fire, three firefighters with the Marin County Fire Department were burned by flames from the Carr Fire Thursday night.

All three were assigned to structure defense when they were hit with a blast of heat. The blast came from flames next to a building they were protecting, the fire department said.

They were all taken to Mercy Hospital in Redding where they were evaluated for burns to the ears, face, and hands. They were all released.

One of the firefighters is being evaluated further today at UC Davis Burn Center.
