TAMPA (WFLA) – Two sisters have been arrested after admitting to killing their father in March 2015.
Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri said in a press conference Tuesday, 63-year-old Mary-Beth Tomaselli and 61-year-old Linda Roberts stand accused of killing their 85-year-old father and faking his death back in March 2015.
Deputies say Roberts admitted to a friend that the sisters had “euthanized” their father because he was ill with cancer and dementia and did not want it to go to an assisted living facility.
The sisters admitted to originally attempting to kill their father by giving him a mixture of alcohol and sleeping pills. The mixture was too diluted with alcohol so the sisters attempted to suffocate their father, the sisters eventually killed their father after Roberts stuffed a rag down his throat, holding his arms behind his back and Tomaselli pinned his nose shut according to deputies.
Both sisters admitted to killing their father to deputies, Sheriff Bob Gualtieri called the killing a “perfect murder.” In interviews with investigators, the sisters repeatedly used the word “euthanized” and “premeditated” when describing why they killed their father.
Both have been charged with First Degree Murder.
