FLORENCE, SC (WBTW) – Police in South Carolina say a woman who was arrested for solicitation of prostitution was also charged with child neglect after she brought an infant to the motel to meet who she thought was a paying customer.
Major Carlos Raines with Florence Police says officers arrested 20-year-old Haley Christine Steinberg after an undercover officer responded to her online ad soliciting sexual services. Officers met Steinberg at a Florence motel and subsequently arrested her on the solicitation charge.
During her arrest, Steinberg mentioned a baby who was still in the room, according to Major Raines. When officers returned to the motel room, they discovered an infant who had been placed on a bed, surrounded by pillows, described Major Raines.
Steinberg is charged with solicitation of prostitution and unlawful neglect of a child. She was booked into the Florence County Detention Center Tuesday at 10:38 p.m. and was released Thursday at 2:41 p.m. on $3,500 bond.
