Lori Loughlin's daughter Olivia Jade reportedly denied trademark over poor punctuation

In the wake of the college admissions scandal, Sephora ended its partnership with Lori Loughlin’s daughter Olivia Jade Giannulli.

The 19-year-old USC freshman is in hot water as prosecutors allege her parents, Loughlin and fashioner designer Mossimo Giannulli, paid $500,000 to have her and her sister labeled as crew-team recruits at the University of Southern California, even though neither is a rower.

Now it appears that college applications weren’t the only struggle.

The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office reportedly denied Giannulli’s application to trademark “Olivia Jade Beauty” due to poor punctuation, according to reports from Entertainment Tonight and People.

“Proper punctuation in identifications is necessary to delineate explicitly each product or service within a list and to avoid ambiguity,” the USPTO wrote to Giannulli, according to the publications. “Commas, semicolons, and apostrophes are the only punctuation that should be used.”

According to ET, the letter was dated March 15 and officials mentioned Giannulli’s lack of punctuation at times made it hard to clarify exactly what her makeup kits would be comprised of.

“Applicant must correct the punctuation in the identification to clarify the individual items in the list of goods,” officials added.
