OAKLAND (KRON) — BART trains are experiencing major delays in the East Bay due to an equipment problem, according to BART officials.

The delays are between the Rockridge Station in Oakland and the Orinda Station in both the Pittsburg and San Francisco directions.

BART officials originally reported a 20-minute delay, but has since upgraded it to “major delays.”

The delays are due to electrical problems that are preventing automatic train control from engaging near the Rockridge Station, according to BART officials.

BART officials say crews are working to fix the problem as soon as possible.

Commuters are advised to leave early if taking BART or find an alternative way to commute.Stay with KRON4 News for updates
