OAKLAND (KRON) — Two people are dead following a fire in Oakland that broke out early Monday morning.
The fire started around 1 a.m. in the 6200 block of Eastlawn Street in an apartment building, according to fire officials.
Firefighters were able to bring the blaze under control by around 1:45 p.m.
A man and a woman suffered fatal injuries from the fire.
The fire spread to four units of the apartment building, said fire officials.
The ages and identities of the victims are unknown at this time.
It is unclear if there were any other injuries.
The cause of the fire is unknown and under investigation.
