A man armed with an ice pick allegedly stabbed a woman in San Francisco’s SoMa neighborhood on Friday in an unprovoked attack.

Police say the stabbing happened just before 4 p.m. near Fifth and Harrison Streets.

The suspect allegedly walked up to a 35-year-old woman and stabbed her for no reason, according to police.

The woman was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police were able to arrest the suspect and identified him as 40-year-old Sean Carsetti.

Police say it’s not known if the suspect and the victim knew each other.

Carsetti is being held without bail on suspicion of attempted murder.
