PD: Wanted man agrees to turn himself in if Facebook post gets 15K likes

Jose Simms

TORRINGTON, Conn. (WTNH) – A man wanted in Torrington has agreed to turn himself in to police if the department’s Facebook post about him gets 15,000 likes.

On Wednesday morning, Torrington police posted the wanted poster for 29-year-old Jose Simms, who is being sought for multiple Failure to Appear warrants.

Police wrote in the accompanying Facebook post that they had negociated with Simms earlier in the week and that he has agreed to turn himself in if the post about him on the City of Torrington Police Department’s Facebook page got 15,000 likes.

According to the post, officers wanted 10,000 likes, and Simms wanted 20,000, so 15,000 was the negotiation.

Officers are now asking their followers to share, tweet, Instagram and Snapchat the post to help them get to their goal.

However, the post does say that if anyone does know where Simms is regardless, to let them know.

According to court documents, Simms has previously been charged with risk of injury to a child, breach of peace, false incident, violation of a protective order, misuse of emergency 911 and false statement. He is listed on the Torrington docket 10 times.
