Teen recovering from brain injury after attempting 'In My Feelings' Challenge

(WCMH/WHBF) - An 18-year-old is warning others after she attempted the Drake's "In My Feelings" dance challenge and ended up with a traumatic brain injury.

"We were over by the round-about, and I thought it would be a fun idea to do the Keke Challenge," Anna Worden told WQAD. "The last thing I remember was opening the door. So apparently I got out and tripped and fell and hit my head."

Anna was knocked unconscious and airlifted to an intensive care unit in Iowa City. She had skull fracture, blood clots in her ear and bleeding in her brain, WQAD reports.

Doctors told KRON sister station WHBF they still aren't sure if the dancer will ever return to her normal state again.

She's just one of thousands of people attempting the challenge. It started as a dance challenge but has escalated to new, dangerous levels-- with people attempting to jump out of moving cars to get clicks.

It's even prompted warnings from law enforcement officials across the world, including the National Transportation and Safety Board.

Anna's family and friends are now issuing a public warning of their own to make sure an accident like this doesn't happen to anyone else.

"Be aware of what's going on and just be careful because a lot of people are rooting for you and one decision like this can change your life forever," family friend Kimberly Munn told WHBF. "We have sent out this message of how dangerous this challenge is to as many people as we possibly can."

And that message doesn't stop at teens.

"Parents and teachers be aware of what your kids are doing and stay up on these trends and stay up on these fads as best as you can so you can really go in and explain to them how life changing a decision like this can be," Munn said.

Munn says the dance community is organizing a fundraising effort to help the Worden family with medical bills. They hope Anna will be released from the hospital sometime this week.
