President Trump inspected eight of border wall prototypes in San Diego while visiting California for the first time since taking office.
Customs and Border Protection picked eight proposed barrier types: four designed as 30-foot concrete walls, and four made of other materials.
The prototypes were completed in October and have been evaluated in a real-world border environment.
Those tests included attempts at breaching, climbing, and digging under the barriers.
All attributes of the possible border walls and fences, including combinations of different types, could be used to seal the border.
If Congress approves border wall funding, the specific barrier designs would be based on the needs of each border environment.
