SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — Not long from now, the tarp will be pulled off the field and the crews preparing for the San Francisco Giants’ Fanfest Saturday will be replaced with former all-stars and World Series champions who are eager to atone for two consecutive down seasons and bring winning back to this storied franchise.

“I’m amped to go,” said Giants Manager Bruce Bochy. “I’m ready to go.”

Players are optimist they can turn things around.

“We all go into Spring with a positive mindset thinking we can win a lot of games, and get back to the postseason and eventually win a World Series,” said Shortstop Brandon Crawford.

Guys recovering from injuries that sidelined them for part of last year say the off-season went well. Catcher Buster Posey, recovering from hip-surgery, says he intends to be ready to go opening day.

“I’m optimistic that I’ll be able to play and have the same workload that I have had,” Posey said.

New Team President Of Baseball Operations, Farhan Zaidi, says after a few off-season moves, addressing the pitching staff, he’s still piecing the roster together and, acknowledges that the team recently met with unsigned free-agent outfielder Bryce Harper in the slugger’s hometown Of Las Vegas.

“He’s obviously got a lot of suitors and a lot of interest and he’s gonna have some decisions to make,” said Zaidi. “But again, I think it’s fair to say that that was an expression of our interest level to make the trip out there and meet with him.”

The Giants lost 89 games last season, finishing fourth in their division but collectively, the team looks forward to a bounce back year.

“Just that feeling of Fall baseball is unlike anything else, so I think everybody, for that reason alone, wants to get back and back into that situation of, just just enjoying that Fall baseball and playing in the playoffs,” said Pitcher Jeff Samardzija,

Get to the park early if you plan to attend fanfest. the gates open at 10 a.m. and the event ends at 3 p.m.
