Police believe a Richmond homeowner was acting out of self-defense when an alleged robber entered his family’s house early Friday morning.
Around 12:14 a.m. police responded to a call of a home-invasion robbery in the 3100 block of Alta Mira Dr., according to Richmond Police Department.
When officers arrived, they found the homeowner and his family.
Police learned the 47-year-old suspect from Richmond tried breaking into two other houses before forcing his way into this home.
The suspect allegedly broke a window to get inside.
“The homeowner had no choice but to defend his family and himself from the suspect,” police said.
The homeowner allegedly shot the suspect multiple times. Now the suspect is in a trauma center where he is still alive, police said.
“The homeowner has been extremely cooperative with detectives and so have all the occupants of the residence,” police said. “At this time, this unfortunate incident seems to be a clear case of self defense on the part of the homeowner as a victim of a home-invasion robbery.”
