A San Jose prep school music teacher tried to sexually exploit a 16-year-old girl that he taught, according to police.

Police arrested 39-year-old Christopher Florio at his San Jose home on Thursday. He is accused of communicating with a minor to commit a felony and annoying or molesting a minor.

Florio was an instrumental music teacher at the Harker Upper School and is a conductor for the California Youth Symphony in Palo Alto.

Police were first tipped off about Florio in June. They say he may have inappropriately communicated with the teen girl for sexual purposes.

Investigators found Florio had sexual conversations with the girl during school functions, and he also talked with the girl through social media to solicit sexually explicit images, police said.

If you have any information, you are asked to call the police at 408-537-1379.
