San Jose Sharks is getting its own beer


SAN JOSE (KRON)—The San Jose Sharks announced it is getting its own beer from partnering up with Gordon Birsch Brewery.

The Chum Red Ale will be sold at the SAP Center and Bay Area grocery stores.

Gordon Birsch Brewery has been a partner with the hockey team for a long time.

The company describes its newest beer as”dry-hopped blood red ale [that] features a rich malt bill, complemented by a spicy hop aroma from imported Tettnang hops. A smooth yet powerful beer just like the San Jose Sharks lineup. This ale will leave you circling for more.”

The Chum Red Ale got its name from fish scraps used to attract sharks.

The beer does include a disclaimer that reads “Blood, sweat, and chips of teeth from previous Sharks Players were used in the making of this beer.” It also, “Pairs with: VICTORY.”

The first home game of the season for the Sharks begins on Oct. 12. The team will be playing the Los Angeles Kings.
