SANTA CRUZ (BCN) — Santa Cruz police are looking for three men accused of crashing a stolen car into a store and taking an ATM early Wednesday morning, according to police spokeswoman Joyce Blaschke.

Police got a call about an alarm activated at DJ’s Mini Mart, located in the 800 block of Water Street, at around 3:45 a.m., Blaschke said.

When officers reached the scene, they found the store’s front glass doors and wall pane were smashed in and an ATM missing, according to police.

Video footage taken from the store’s surveillance system showed someone drove a gray Honda Accord into the store on purpose, police said. The footage can be viewed online at https://youtu.be/1V-h_hHh1go.

Two suspects exited the vehicle and tried to remove the ATM, which was bolted to the ground near the front doors, according to police.

The driver came out to help the other two suspects, but the trio struggled to take out the machine, police said.

The driver then went back inside the Honda and backed up the car into the machine, which was knocked from its place, according to police.

The suspects pushed the ATM into the vehicle and drove away to North Branciforte Avenue, police said.

Officers found the Honda abandoned hours later around 7:45 a.m. on a driveway about a mile and a half east in the 2000 block of Soquel Avenue, but didn’t see the ATM, according to police.

Two of the suspects wore gray hoodies with the hoods up.

The third suspect wore a dark jacket and orange hat similar to a beanie, police said.

Anyone who recognizes the suspects is asked to call the police investigation unit at (831) 420-5820. Those who wish to remain anonymous may call the police tip line at (831) 420-5995.Bay City News contributed to this report.
