Santa Rosa police search for suspect, truck involved in fatal hit-and-run

A man was killed early Friday in a hit-and-run in Santa Rosa, and authorities are continuing to search for the suspect involved. 

According to the Santa Rosa Police Department, the man was found unconscious on the westbound shoulder of Highway 12, west of Middle Rincon Road just before 1:30 a.m. 

A passerby had flagged down an officer after discovering the victim, who appeared to have been hit by a car. 

The victim died at the scene. 

From evidence obtained at the scene, authorities determined the vehicle involved is a blue 2006 Mitsubishi Raider pickup truck missing a front passenger headlight and front grill. 

Anyone who sees a truck matching the above description is asked to contact the SRPD Dispatch Center at 707-528-5222. 

Anyone who witnessed the crash or has information that might help in locating the suspect is asked to contact Officer Jeff Adams at 707-543-3636. 

Westbound lanes of Highway 12 west of Middle Rincon Road were closed earlier due to the investigation. All lanes in the area reopened just before 5 a.m.
