(KTXL) — Two people are dead after a plane crashed near Rio Vista on Thursday morning, according to the Rio Vista Police Department.

On Thursday afternoon, Solano County sheriffs were able to identify the occupants as 41-year-old Benjamin Shreve of Concord, California, and 33-year-old Jesse Buckner of Martinez California.

At around 11:46 a.m., police and fire officials responded to reports of a plane crash, east of the airport in a rural unincorporated area of Solano County.

Personnel noticed a plane circling in a “strange manner” and signaling to ground crews.

A small-engine plane was located and two occupants were pronounced dead.

The National Transportation Safety Board said that it was “investigating the crash of an Experimental Sky Bolt near Rio Vista.”

Two GoFundMe pages have been established for the victims of the crash.
