WWII VETERANS FLY THEIR OLD AIRCRAFT OVER THE SF BAY AREA FOR VETERANS DAY:
The Stockton Field Aviation Museum will be flying their 1945 Lockheed PV-2D Harpoon, a restored long range Navy patrol bomber, in commemoration of Veterans day.
Look to the skies and listen for the distinctive sounds of two 2000 horse power radial engines as the dark navy blue patrol bomber flies over the SF Bay area with several of its original WWII flight crew onboard.
The PV-2D Harpoon will depart from Stockton Field around 10:30 am and is planning on flying over various Veterans Day’s celebrations starting with the parade in San Jose at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month. We will then overfly Moffett Field, the old Naval Air Station Oakland (now Oakland international Airport) NAS Alameda and then over San Francisco and the shipyards in Richmond then back to Stockton Field.
One of our Veteran flight crew is Pat Patteson of Livermore. Pat was a pilot that flew many combat missions with VPB-135 out of the Aleutian’s against the Japanese. We have recently found a member of Pat’s squadron who is living in Modesto. If all goes well then they will not only get to meet again for the first time since WWII but they might just fly together in our museum’s Harpoon, the very same kind of aircraft that they flew in combat.
Another WWII vet that is going along is Bob Handel. Bob flew as a gunner in PB4Y-2’s in the pacific and he saw a lot of combat from the nose turret of the Privateer.
On Veterans day if you hear the great sound of two Pratt and Whitney radial engines rumbling overhead around 11am come on out and wave to our veterans who will be flying in their old WWII aircraft.
The Stockton Field Aviation Museum wants to thank all of our countries veterans for their service by keeping this great old aircraft flying…

GOOGLE.ORG TO BRING VIRTUAL PARADE TO VETERANS WITH DISABILITIES IN PALO ALTO:
#UnitedWeMarch is a virtual Veteran’s Day Parade that any veteran, anywhere, can join
PALO ALTO, CA — As part of Google Impact Challenge: Disabilities, Google.org is hosting a virtual march this Veteran’s Day to engage veterans across the country who are unable to march, whether it’s due to age, disability, or distance. #UnitedWeMarch is a virtual Veteran’s Day Parade that any veteran, anywhere, can join. On Wednesday, November 11, Google staff and volunteers will bring the experience to veterans and their families at a local event at the VA Palo Alto Health Care System.
Now, for the first time, veterans in Palo Alto will have the opportunity to march in the nation’s largest Veteran’s Day Parade, of which Google is an official sponsor, using new innovative technology, including YouTube 360 and Google Cardboard. These new technologies will allow veterans to experience the parade from the perspective of someone marching on the ground in New York City.
