VIDEO: Bay Area rapper Keak Da Sneak shot in Richmond


RICHMOND (KRON) — Bay Area rapper Keak Da Sneak was shot in Richmond early Monday morning, according to Richmond Police.

39-year-old Charles Williams, who goes by the name of Keak Da Sneak, was shot at around 5:30 a.m. at a gas station located at Carlson Blvd and Imperial Ave.

He was shot multiple times in the torso, police said. Gas station employees say the shooting happened on the KWIK Serve gas station’s premises.

Williams was parked at the gas station but not getting gas, employees said. He was talking to someone in a car beside him.

Somebody then walked up to his car from the sidewalk and shot him more than five times.

The person who was in the second car stayed behind until first responders came.

Police do not have any suspect information at this time but they are actively working the case.

Close friends tell KRON4 he is in ICU and out of surgery. He is said to be doing OK.

Williams is listed in stable condition, police said.

Keak Da Sneak is from Oakland.

He is known for coining the term hyphy in 1994 and being featured on E-40’s “Tell Me When To Go.”

Williams had a performance Sunday night at Complex Oakland.
