Viewer sends in photo of Lake Berryessa waterspout

LAKE BERRYESSA (KRON) -- A waterspout has emerged in Lake Berryessa on Wednesday afternoon, according to a viewer.

Ron Hascall said his son sent him a photo take over the lake at around 2:30 p.m. Hascall said it was the largest of five waterspouts in the area, and it was the only one that remained on the lake for a "period of time."

A waterspout is an intense columnar vortex that occurs over a body of water. In the common form, it is a non-supercell tornado over water.

KRON is working to get more information on the waterspout.
