SAN FRANCISCO (KRON)—San Francisco police are now calling the death of a man found in a stairwell at Westfield San Francisco Centre Mall not a murder, but a suspicious death.

This assumption was made after an autopsy was conducted by a medical examiner, police said.

“At the moment, it doesn’t appear to be a homicide, but it doesn’t appear to be a natural death either,” said police spokeswoman Officer Giselle Talkoff.

28-year-old Frank Galicia of San Francisco was found dead at the mall at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday near the Jessie Street entrance.

Details of Galicia’s condition or what caused his death has not been released by officers.

Detectives and the medical examiner are still trying to determine what caused Galicia’s death.

Galicia was from Los Angeles and moved to the Bay Area recently. He was a line chef at the San Francisco restaurant Son’s & Daughters.

One of the owners of the restaurant has created a GoFundMe page to help the family with expenses.
