SAN RAMON (KRON) — San Ramon police are investigating the death of a woman, who was hit and killed by a car Wednesday night, police said.

The accident was reported in the area of Dougherty Road and Red Willow Road at about 8:53 p.m., San Ramon Valley fire said. Callers reported seeing a woman walking in the area before she was hit and seriously injured.

Police and fire crews tried to treat the woman, who was in her 60s, but she died at the scene just after 9 p.m, fire crews said..

Southbound Dougherty Road is closed as police investigate the death. No word on how long the road will be closed.
