Workers still counting ballots in San Mateo County

Millions of people went to the polls last minute to cast their votes.

This morning those ballots are still being counted in several Bay Area counties.

That’s the case in San Mateo County, where workers will be counting 24 hours a day until all votes are counted.

Not only are they counting last-minute votes from last night, they are also counting mail-in ballots.

Counting these midterm votes could take longer than previous years as this year, California has seen a record number of registered voters as nearly four out of five Californians registered to vote.

Just shy of 400,000 of them are registered in San Mateo County.
