Giants Evan Longoria has broken hand after being hit by pitch

MIAMI (AP) - - San Francisco Giants third baseman Evan Longoria broke his left-hand after being hit by a pitch.

Longoria was struck by Dan Straily in Miami on Thursday.

There is no timetable for Longoria's return.

The 32-year-old Longoria said he will determine in the next few days if he will need surgery.

He was a three-time All-Star during 10 seasons with Tampa Bay and was traded to the Giants last winter. Longoria was hit in the fourth inning and stayed in the game to run. He was then replaced in the field.

The Giants beat the Marlins 6-3 in 16 innings.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
